What is Basque Cuisine Anyway?

Basque cuisine originates from Basque Country, a region between north central Spain and south western France. Our cuisine is the heart of our culture, influenced by neighboring communities and the bountiful produce from the sea and land. Epi’s A Basque Restaurant is proud to share an important aspect of our Basque heritage with time-honored recipes from Grandma Epi.

For over 16 years, Epi’s A Basque Restaurant has grown to become one of Treasure Valley’s most preferred restaurants with MANY repeat customers. Residents in Meridian and Boise, ID agree that when they come to Epi’s, they are guaranteed an amazing meal where they are greeted and welcomed like family. From fresh seafood, fragrant lamb and succulent steak to unique red bean soup and green apple pudding, you won’t find another ethnic restaurant with as many consistent 5-star ratings as us!

“There is no other place in the Boise area quite like Epi's. The Owner, Chris, is a fantastic person and treats every single person in the door like family. She'll hug you, she'll walk you to your table, and she'll make a mental note about you and any person in your group. This is important, because she will never forget any of you, and she'll never forget anything any of those people tell her… What doesn't hurt is that the food is delicious, the portions are more than generous, and the entire staff (mostly family) seems to truly enjoy being part of a much larger community of Basques in the Boise area. Been hitting this place for over a decade, and the quality has not gone down. The dishes change every once in a while, but for the most part everything is set. Go for the tongue, go for the citrus crusted fish, the squid in its ink, and...hell, everything's great. Get it all.”

“The atmosphere was more like the home of a favorite aunt than a restaurant. A small place with not many tables, it was full of people who looked glad to be there on a chilly Thursday night. We didn't have reservations (oops!) but were greeted warmly and seated by the owner and made to feel as though we were part of the family. We were pleased to find a menu with choices to suit both appetite and purse. And the food was outstanding. Succulent entrees, fresh crusty bread, family-style side dishes and green apple bread pudding that was... well, I just want some more. We were just passing through and felt truly lucky to find Epi's. Looking forward to going back to try the lamb stew and really, just to be in that incredibly warm and caring atmosphere.”
